Baby Bag completed ..... check!

I woke up this morning with every intention on finishing the baby bag and voila - done!
I was having doubts last week that I wouldn't finish it in time, but I'm so glad I have and now all that is left to do is fill it with baby gifts.
I wish Liz and Dale all the best on the arrival of the new addition to their family.

Now that the baby bag project is finished, I look at my board and there are a few projects on there that I need to get around to – some requests from friends and family, some new things I want to try and believe it or not some Christmas orders already.

I have had a pile of make-up and coin purses cut out for a few months now, but haven’t had time to sew them. I do love Nikki’s make-up purses and coin purses; they are quick and easy to sew and they make a great gift (considering it was my staple gift for everyone at Christmas I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do this Christmas hahahaha).

I have been playing with different ideas with the make-up purses, like putting a little pocket in contrasting colours , sewing on buttons or putting a little flap and pocket on the front.

I’m not the most creative when it comes to making something plain look nice, but I try hahaha. I think of what I like or what I think looks good and try to portray it in my sewing, in some experiments it hasn’t worked, but I am all for trial and error.

Let the sewing begin :o)

Too much socialising, not enough sewing!

It’s a busy week ahead catching up with friends and not a lot of sewing time. I seem to go through phases where there are some weeks I’m free every night and then some weeks (like this week) that I’m out every night until Sunday.
I do try to keep my Sundays free, so I can get up and dedicate the entire day to sewing – I put a movie on or music in the background and sew my life away. I can’t work in silence it kills me; I need background noise to help me along hahaha.

So at the moment my number one project is another baby bag for a family friend who is due at the end of May – so time is ticking, but I’m nearly finished :o)
I must say there has been a lot of gratification this time around, as it is my second baby bag and no instructions were required – it came so natural to me and I guess a lot of that comes from doing Nikki’s bags. Once you grasp a concept of how to do something and apply it to something similar, it all makes sense and pulls together so easily.

Straps for the bag
Elastic pocket on side of the bag
Getting there - straps, zipper and lining to finish

I decided to go with the same Noah’s Ark theme as my previous baby bag, because I don’t know the gender of the baby and all the other materials I found were gender specific, it’s still cute and practical none the less and very sturdy as I used a curtain fabric. I must say that the original baby bag I made for my niece has been packed to the limits and still in one piece hahaha.

It has been a longer process than last time I made the baby bag, just because of the social calendar over the last couple of months.  In saying that - I'm off to dinner with my beautiful friend Linda.

It's been a while .....

Well it has been a while since my last post and I must admit I originally started the blog just to showcase my creations for Nikki's competition.
As the passion (or obsession - however you want to look at it hahaha) has grown stronger and I have been stepping out my comfort zone and making different things, I have decided to keep the blog alive even if only have 3 followers hahahaha.

I'm happy to say that the black leather tote I made for my trip to Europe, not only survived the trip but was able to fit everything I needed and more. My beach bag was a blessing in Greece and it became the "day bag" because it could fit everything we needed in it, especially for our quad bike travels around the islands or the donkey ride in Santorini. And as for my little underwear and laundry bags, I don't think I will ever travel without them again.

As I sit and type this I can see my beach bag and think that not only did I make that, but there are so many amazing and happy memories that are attached to that bag. I got to see a lot beautiful sunsets, amazing beaches and spectacular sights, I could honestly say it was a trip of a lifetime and I got to experience it with people that are not only my friends, but my family that I love dearly. xoxo

Love this picture of a little lane way in Ios - there were a lot of random pictures like this on the trip!
